Sundays at CCC

Sundays at CCC:

"Run the Race" An Olympian Sermon Series: With the summer Olympics about to start, it seems fitting to reprise a sermon series from 1999 on running life's race. For the next several weeks, Pastor Ken will lead us through Hebrews 12:1-13, beginning with a message titled, "In the Arena." Why not take a few minutes this week to prayerfully read the first part of Hebrews 12?

Sunday Morning Summer Schedule
Beginning Sunday, July 6, we will be worshipping in the air-conditioned Christian Arts Auditorium. Christian Education hour will be from 9:15 - 10:15 am. Worship services will be at 8:00 am and 10:30 am. The Sunday office location is the ticket booth in the CAA lobby. Here, you can order a tape for CD of the sermon or the entire service, make payments, pick up previously ordered CDs, etc. The office will be open at 9:00 am and 11:45 am. If you do not attend the later service and you want to order a CD, fill out the appropriate form and drop it in the box provided or drop it off in the church office during the week.

Building Summer Hours
From Monday, June 2 through Monday, September 1, the summer hours for the church building will be: Monday and Wednesday evenings until 9:00 pm and Saturdays from 8:00 am until noon. The church office will be open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am until 5:00 pm. When filling out Building Request forms for the summer, please try to plan events accordingly.

2008 Short-Term Mission Trips

Zion to Zion South Africa Tour - January 1-15, 2009
We have the unique privilege of getting to know the heart of Africa by getting to know our Zion pastors and church leaders. Although there will be plenty for us to do on this trip, developing a personal relationship with our ZEMA missionaries and Zion pastors is at the top of the list. Camp Zion

Camp Zion News:
Family Work Weekend: Family Work Weekend is August 29 through September 1, Labor Day weekend, at Camp Zion. You'll have a great time, with two registration options this year. You may choose to arrive Friday evening and serve Camp Zion by working projects during the day on Saturday, OR you may choose to arrive Saturday afternoon and just enjoy the family camp experience. Both options include fun on the waterfront, around Door County and around the campfire. Check-in time for the work crew begins after 3 pm on Friday--the first meal is Saturday breakfast. Saturday work projects begin after breakfast and are generally done by 2 pm. Those not involved in work projects may check in after 3 pm on Saturday afternoon. Check-out for all is after breakfast on Monday morning. Registration forms are available at www.campzion.com or in the church office. Please mail the form and fees to Camp Zion.

Attention Camp Zion Photographers: Please remember to burn your summer digital pictures onto a CD and send them to Camp Zion ASAP so they can be used in the Camp slide show on Sunday, August 24. Pictures are needed by August 8. The camp address is P.O. Box 32, Ellison Bay, WI 54210.

Check out: www.campzion.com to read about and see pictures of the new road safety project, information about upcoming retreats and group pictures from the summer season.

Third Annual Back-to-School Paintball Extravaganza - Saturday, September 6
Promised Land Paintball is a tremendous organization. Their paintball takes place in natural environments, they take safety seriously, and they are all about working with churches to provide a great opportunity for kids to connect with each other and with their parents. Best of all, you absolutely do not have to be a paintball veteran to have fun. This all-day event is open to all student between 7th and 12th grades as well as their parents. The cost is $45 per person and includes the cost of equipment rental, 500 paintballs, CO2 refills, and lunch. Sign up at any youth event or by e-mailing Leo at lbarnes@ccczion.org.

A Great Way to Help Our Youth!
One simple way you can help send students to camp is to donate cases of Pepsi, Mountain Dew, Sunkist, Sprite or Dr. Pepper to the CCC youth ministry. These donations then double the profit from each can of pop sold, enabling more students to attend fall and winter camp sessions. Feel free to drop off your donations in the church office anytime!

Calling All Scrapbookers!
Circle Center has over 30 years of pictures piled in a box and we are looking for people who would be interested in putting them on scrapbook paper. We have the paper and glue sticks, now we need a few interested people. Please contact the Circle Center office at 847-746-8607 if you are interested. this is a project that can be done at church or at home. Thanks in advance!

Nursery Volunteers Needed
The one-year nursery is in need of an adult volunteer for the following dates: 10/19/08, 5/3/09 and 8/9/09. An adult volunteer is also needed for the three-year-old nursery for 10/5/09. Nursery volunteers: the 2008-09 schedule was mailed to all the volunteers at the end of June. If you didn't receive one, please contact Darci Green.

Are You Interested in Teaching English?
The ESL program is looking for people who want to teach two days per week, mornings or evenings, beginning in September. You don't need to be a professional teacher or able to speak Spanish. Would you like to serve in child care? There are opportunities for that in the ESL program as well. please contact Pastor Eliel in the church office for more information.

Circle Center Campbell's Soup Update
Summertime is generally not a time we think about soup, but we are here at Circle Center! We are 100 points short of a trike, so keep the labels coming! We can reach our goal if we work together! Remember that the points are not just on soup cans. There is a list of participating products at the Welcome Center. Did you know that we can use the labels from "Goldfish" packets as well? Thanks to Tonilynn Rojas for her faithful counting and supervision of this project.

Deliver Meals

Help Provide Meals
Do you have a caring heart? Do you consider yourself somewhat “gifted” in the kitchen and hold a deep desire to serve others but just don’t know where to start? Then consider adding your name to our list of those willing to provide an occasional meal for someone facing serious illness or recuperation in our church family! You can sign up at the Welcome Center today, or call the church office at 847-746-1411 and speak to Katy or Jan.

What About the Other Arts?
We know that "we see our church as a center for the arts," and so we are extending to members a call for a presence of visual and literarty arts in our church family. Are you a painter, sculptor, graphic artist, potter or textile artists? Are you a writer? A poet? A playwright? If you use or have used your artistic talents to bring glory to Christ, or wish to do so, please contact Dr. Martin in the church office.

Serve the Congregation Behind the Scenes
Are you interested in serving as a slide operator during Sunday morning worship? All we need is someone who is coordinated with somewhat of a rhythmic ear to keep the slides running on time. You don't have to be technically savvy, as the program is simple and easy to learn. If you're interested, we could use your help once or twice a month. Call the church office at 847-746-1411 for more information.

Volunteer Drivers Needed
We are in need of people who are willing to drive the church van to transport those who want to attend the Sunday worship service. If you'd be interested, please contact Katy Lee in the church office. Driving the church van does not require a CDL license.

Have a Friendly Smile and a Welcoming Heart?
Maybe you'd like to serve our body as a Baker/Taker. this important ministry helps spread the welcoming love of God by providing baked goods for local guests to our church. You can help by baking a fresh loaf of bread or a batch of baked goods and simply dropping it off at a guest's home with a smile, letting them know we're glad they visited. Or perhaps you can't visit, but can provide baked goods for a "Taker" - you are needed too! Baker/Takers service about once a month. If you are interested, please contact the church office.
