Our Beliefs

The Good News of Jesus Christ

The Bible is a wonderful book. It is God’s message to mankind, and it contains everything that we need to know to live our lives in the way the Creator intended (2 Timothy 3:16-17). There are countless truths and principles for us to learn and live by which are found in the Bible. But if you were to boil everything down to its most basic message, the Bible says these three things:

  • First, the Bible says that mankind has a problem called sin.

Sin is any action or attitude that does not meet God’s perfect standard. There is no question that we all have this problem called sin (Romans 3:23). Moreover, there is a consequence for sin: separation from God (Habakkuk 1:13). In fact, the end result of sin is death (Romans 6:23).

  • Second, the Bible says that there is a solution to the problem of sin.

The solution is found in the person of Jesus Christ (Romans 6:23). God loved us so much that he sent Jesus to die in our place (John 3:16). Jesus paid the penalty of our sin so that we would not have to be separated from him forever (1 John 4:10). Jesus is the only solution to our sin problem (John 14:6).

  • Third, the Bible expects a decision from us.

It is not enough to know about Jesus Christ and his death on the cross. We must put our trust in Christ. God’s gift of salvation is waiting for us when we believe (John 1:12). All of us have the problem of sin. There is only one solution to the problem: the person of Jesus Christ. His life, death, and resurrection promise to bring salvation and a new life.

What We Believe About...

  • The Bible

We believe the Bible to be the inspired and only infallible, authoritative Word of God, and our rule for faith and practice.

  • God

We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

  • Jesus Christ

We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in his virgin birth, in his sinless life, in his miracles, in his vicarious and atoning death through his shed blood, in his bodily resurrection, in his ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in his personal return in power and glory.

  • Salvation

We believe that the salvation of lost and sinful man is only by the grace of God through faith in Christ alone, and regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.

  • The Holy Spirit

We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.

  • The Resurrection

We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of eternal life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of eternal punishment.

  • The Unity of Believers

We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.

  • The Ordinances

We believe that Christ commanded two ordinances to be observed by the Church until Christ returns: water baptism and the Lord’s Supper, both open to all believers.

Mission

The mission of Christ Community Church is to glorify God in obedience to the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20) and the Great Commandments (Matthew 22:37-39).

  • We envision well-conceived, Spirit-filled corporate worship marked by reverent affection for the living God.

  • We see our church as a center for the arts, enriching the wider body of Christ through God glorifying music and drama.

  • We see eager people strategically investing a steady stream of resources into making disciples wherever we’re positioned to make a difference.

  • We see a preaching, teaching, reading, learning church–Christian minds in the making.

  • We see open hearts and open arms extending, to members and guests alike, the welcoming love of God in our multi-ethnic community.
